W. A. Martin, Sr., 86, died at 843 N. President street, where he had been living for the past two years, at 5 p.m. Saturday. He had been in failing health for the past two years. He was retired state manager for the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Martin was a member of the First Baptist Church, and a former Mason.
His survivors include two sons, Walter A. Martin, Jr., Jackson, and Van B. Martin, Raleigh, Tenn.; one daughter, Mrs. D. B. Gambill, Lebanon, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Mrs. Bob Coleman, Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Charles McDonald, New York City, Mrs. William Frederick Pontius, State College, Miss Jane Martin, University of Mississippi, and Miss Flora Martin, Mason, Tenn. and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Wright and Ferguson Chapel at 11 a.m. Monday conducted by Dr. W. D. Hudgins, pastor of the First Baptist Church, with interment in Cedarlawn cemetery.
