Nancy was born in DC while her father John Gardiner/Gardner was a Tailor and leased property on Pennsylvania Avenue. He later bought land in Muskingum County Ohio and then Delaware County Ohio where Nancy met and married Stephen W. Doughty. After Stephen died Nancy went to visit her son Isaiah in Wisconcin . May 30 1842 she married Bernard Mills in Oshkosh. Witnesses were Cyrus & Susan Doughty Benedict of Ball Prarie, WI. 1860 Nancy is listed as Nancy Mills living with her daughter Harriet Cross in Delaware County Ohio. 1870 she is listed as Nancy Doty.
