Born in Millis, Mass., a daughter of the late William and Alice Mary (Shea) Young, she lived in North Smithfield for three years. She previously lived in Cumberland.
Mrs. Whipple was a 1932 graduate of Simmons College. She was a former member of the Church of the Nazarene in Woonsocket. She was a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
She leaves four sons, Lester E. Whipple Jr. and Newton Y. Whipple, both of North Smithfield, and Edward A Whipple of Blackstone, Mass., and Warren W. Whipple of Mesa, Ariz.; a daughter Carol R. Norris of Mesa; 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Alfred and William Young and Faith Tingley.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Holt Funeral Home, 51 2S. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
