Flossie Mae Harmon Townsend, age 84, of Lenoir, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 while in the care of Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born to the late Jake Harmon and Pearl Brown Harmon on May 31, 1934 in Watauga County.

Mae was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Mae will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents, Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lee Townsend; a daughter, Patricia Ann Flores; a son-in-law, Billy Dean Scoggin; and six half siblings.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include three daughters, Phyllis Fox and her husband Tom, Jane Walker and her husband Dwayne, and Wanda Scoggin; seven brothers, Willard, Clyde, Clint, Roy, Ron, Lewis and Ira Harmon; two sisters, Mary Presnell and Pansy Blevins.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service to honor Mae’s memory will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with the Reverend Kenneth Poarch officiating. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Lenoir. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
