Bricker, also of Swan Twp, in 1870. They located on a farm west of Swan where they spent the rest of their lives. Mrs. Yarian preceded her husband in death May 6, 1917. They had eight children, three of which preceded Mr. Yarian in death - Mrs. Myrta Stewart of Avilla, Mrs. Zora Hart of Kendallville, and one daughter which died in infancy. Five children survive - Francis Yarian of Detroit, Mich., Melvin Yarian, Etta Whonsetler, and Lillie Pfleidner of Avilla, and Seckle Yarian on the home farm. There are 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Rheuben Yarian of Brushy Prairie. Funeral was held at the Bethlehem Church Tuesday. Burial at the nearby cemetery. Mr.
Yarian, with his wife, experienced many of the hardships of pioneer life, among them being starting their married life and raising a family on a farm completely covered with dense forests and swamps, there being only enough cleared to build a log house in which they started their journey in life together. He was a prosperous farmer and a member of the Bethlehem Church.
