Mary Louise Woolbright

Mary Louise (Jones) Woolbright died on July14, 2018 at Concordia Village.
Prior to the move of her and her husband, C.P. (Peanuts) Woolbright to Springfield, they were active members of the Central City Baptist Church. Through the years, she served as a volunteer for numerous organizations including the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Before attending Central City Baptist Church, she and her family were members of the First Baptist Church of Centralia, where she and her husband served as Youth leaders. She and Peanuts were also active in the Church’s Couple Class as well as other programs over the years at the church.
Mary also served as a Room Mother and Member of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) during her children’s years in grade school. She was also known as one of the early seamstresses of the Annual May Fete, held at Centralia High School. She made the dresses for class attendants and May Fete Queen for many years. She also assisted in making costumes for the Centralia High School plays and Centralia Cultural Center. As her husband, she was very supportive of their children’s’ activities over the years.
Woolbright was one of seven children of Herschel B. Jones and Gussie Ingram Jones and was born in Thompsonville, IL on April 13, 1928. Preceded in death by her husband, C. P. “Peanuts” Woolbright of 59 years.

Among many interests, Mary will be remembered for her commitment to her faith and family, along with her love of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, tennis, Scrabble and most recently, Shuffle Board.
