The fourth of seven children born to Casey and Gussie Jones, Ruth graduated from Carlyle High School in 1943. She entered Missouri Baptist Hospital School of Nursing School (Missouri Medical Center) in St Louis, Missouri that same year. While in training, Ruth joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp and graduated with her degree in 1946.

She worked at Missouri Baptist Hospital in charge of the Labor and Delivery Rooms, Obstetric Division, until she moved to Centralia. For 20 months she worked at St Mary's Hospital, Centralia, then joined the practice of Dr. Jack Frost, May 1, 1950, where she worked for almost forty years until his death. Ruth devoted most of her life to caring for the sick and was most proud of her medical profession.

Ruth was rarely one to sit still. After Jack's death she was an active grandmother in the life of her grandson, she assisted her son in the restaurant business and she cared for the elderly in their homes while she herself was in her 80's.

Ruth married Jack Frost June 23, 1963, at the First Baptist Church of Centralia. Married 26 years until Jack's death, they have a son Jeffrey, one grandson, and two great-grandchildren.

Ruth loved the outdoors, gardening, flowers, music and dancing. She was a wonderful cook and hostess, enjoying family gatherings and entertaining friends at her home.

Ruth was also a great story teller. One of her favorite subjects was her growing up years in the Carlyle area with her many siblings. From tales of the rustic summer cabin by the river to teenage dances with friends in the family living room, her nieces and nephews loved to hear her stories.

Ruth and Jack raised and raced horses as a hobby for a number of years. They had several pets at their Centralia home that included dogs, birds and a cougar named Rowdy.

Ruth had been living with congestive heart failure and passed away from a stroke at age 89. Her loving sister Sue had been her caretaker for several years.
