Betty is survived by her sisters Sue Rohner, Centralia, Illinois, and Mary Woolbright, Springfield, Illinois; grandson Douglas Scott Downing and family; sisters-in-law Barbara Jones and Joan "Mickey" Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The wife of a career military husband, Betty moved with and supported Lee in all his responsibilities. They retired to the Augusta area, and also lived in Plant City, Florida for a few years. After Lee's death Betty moved to Centralia, Illinois, living with her sisters for a number of years.
Betty was a member of the North Augusta Southern Methodist Church and Eastern Star.
A tiny, petite lady, Betty was affectionately called "Skeeter." She enjoyed playing golf and attended many US Open tournaments. In nearly any situation you would find Betty with a glass of iced tea in her hand.
