Jennings: Druce was born in Tepatate, LA on Wednesday, December 10, 1930 to Melvin Deshotel, Sr. and Annie Ortego Deshotel. He was called from this life on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 while surrounded by his loving family. Druce loved being outdoors, cooking or barbequing. He loved his Cajun heritage, his church, as well as spending time with his family and friends. Druse was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Druce is survived by beloved wife of 70 years, Doris Fontenot Deshotel of Jennings, LA; his daughter, Lou Deshotel Ewing (Cleve) of Jennings, LA; his son, Wayne Deshotel (Stephanie) of Moss Bluff, LA; his two sisters, Gurtis Kufel of Grey, LA, Anna Mae LeBlanc of Hathaway, LA; as well as nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Druce is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Annie Deshotel; his brothers, John D. Deshotel, Adam Hugh Deshotel, & Melvin Deshotel, Jr.; his sisters, Thelma Andrepont, Louella Andrepont, Elverda Doga, Audrey Pousson, & Effie Chaisson.

A Mass of Christian burial For Druce “DA” Deshotel, 87 of Jennings, LA will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Father Charles McMillin officiating. Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home beginning on Thursday, July 12th from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary recited at 6:00 PM by Ira "Joe" & Dorothy Fontenot and Carly & Chloe Deshotel. The family request that visitation resume on Friday, July 13th at 8:00 AM until the time of his funeral Mass at 2:00 PM.

Carrying Druce to his final resting place in Calvary Cemetery will be Kevin Ryder, Shane Deshotel, Hunter Hebert, Chuck Segura, Chris Johnson, Tim Gatte, and Braydie Gatte. Honorary pallbearers will be Nate Deshotel, Ethan Deshotel, and Zayne Thibodeaux.

The Family of Druce would like to give special thanks to his Hospice Nurses, Terri Millet & Kelly Breaux as well as all of his care givers.
