In the 1870 Federal census, David Crofut (age 47, b. England), wife Phebe (age 37, B. New York), and children Emma (age 15), Clara (age 12), William (age 5), and Dolly (age 2) were living in Arapahoe County, Colorado Territory. David's occupation was given as "Blacksmith/Cattle Raising"

In the 1900 Federal census, David Crowfoot (b. November 1814), wife "Phebe" (b. August 1832) and son John (b. Dec 1877) were living in Arapahoe County, Colorado. David, a farmer, was born in England, Phebe was born in New York, and John was born in Colorado.

David Crowfoot was a farmer and blacksmith, he married Phoebe Stevenson in 1850. After the Civil War, the family moved by wagon train from Minnesota to Colorado. David and Phoebe had eleven children: Ellen C. born in 1852, Emma M. born 1855 and died in 1870, Anna born in 1857, Clara Francis born in 1861 in Minnesota, married Levi Brackett in 1877, died on Feb. 16, 1896 in Grand Island, Nebraska, William F. born i 1863, died 1918, Effie "Dolly" born 1868, Josie born 1870, Joseph Arthur born 6-9-1872, died 1-21-1921, Frank David born 1876 died 1942, John W. born 1877 died 1956, and Jesse T. born 1879 died 1966.
