LUBBOCK -- Ellis Max Vogler, 84, passed away Monday, April 9, 2007 in Lubbock.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 12, 2007 at Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock with Rene Garduno officiating.

Graveside services will be in Fairview cemetery in Winters at 5:00 P.M. Thursday under the direction of Winters Funeral Home with Michael Baskett officiating.

Mr. Vogler was born on August 15, 1922 in the Dale Community near Winters, the son of Henry and Emma Hantsche Vogler. He grew up in the Champion Community South of Roscoe, and graduated from Highland School. After graduation, Mr. Vogler served in the U.S. Army in the South Philippines Asiatic-Pacific Theater and Philippine Liberation in the A Battery 363rd. Battalion the duration of the war. Upon returning home in January, 1946, Mr. Vogler farmed, then in 1949, entered Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

In 1953, after graduation, with a degree in Horticulture, he worked for Texas Floral in Lubbock, then Kirshner's Nursery. In 1957, Mr. Vogler began work with Tom's Tree Place of Lubbock and worked there until February 2005. He worked on inventions, and was successful in having had some of his inventions patented. He enjoyed his work with trees, plants and landscaping.

Mr. Vogler is survived by: a brother, Dwain Vogler and wife Volene of Potosi; three sisters, Ruth Cooper, Eris Beard and husband George of Winters, Betty Brown and husband Newby of Seguin; a sister-in-law, Carlene Vogler of Ballinger; 15 nieces and nephews; 28 great nieces and nephews; and three great-great nieces and nephews.

Mr. Vogler was preceded in death by: his parents, his twin brother Ennis, a brother Wesley and a great nephew Randy Lynn Vogler.
