His obituary was published 22 Jul 2005 in "The State":

"WEST COLUMBIA — Memorial services for Mr. John Thomas Falls Sr., 79, of West Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Trinity Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Harry Phillips and the Rev. Dr. William Johnston officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1000 Greenlawn Drive, Columbia, SC 29209 or Crossover Communications International, P.O. Box 211755, Columbia, SC 29221. The family has entrusted Greenlawn Funeral Home with the arrangements.

Mr. Falls passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at a local nursing home. Born March 23, 1926, in York County, S.C., he was a son of the late Thomas Henry Falls and Susan Carroll Falls. He had worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 37 years. Mr. Falls was a former officer of the local chapter of the National Association of Letter Carriers and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where he had served as an Elder. In addition, he was 1950 graduate of Mars Hill College, a member of the York Scottish Rite Temple, Lower Richland Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. Mr. Falls also enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and genealogy. The family would like to extend thanks to the nurses and staff of the 8th floor of Lexington Medical Center and the Azalea wing at NHC-Lexington for their excellent care.

Surviving Mr. Falls are a daughter, Lynne Shirley of Columbia; a son, J. Thomas Falls Jr. and his wife, Rosemary Lambert-Falls, M.D., of West Columbia; four sisters, Pansy Julian of Anderson, Dorothea Martin and Vida Garrison, both of Greenville, and Ester Holliday of Six Mile; one brother, George Falls of York County; one grandson, Cameron Shirey of Columbia. Mr. Falls was predeceased by his wife, Vivian Norton Falls."
