Avalonia Falls Hembree, 93, wife of The Rev. Marvin C. Hembree, and formerly of Taylors, died March 1, 2005.

Born on Jan. 8, 1912, in York County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Susan Carroll Falls. Mrs. Hembree faithfully served alongside her husband as he pastored several Baptist churches in Upstate South Carolina. The Hembrees celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in 2004. She was a member of Hampton Heights Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James T. and Claudia W. Hembree of Taylors; grandson, Cliff and Elizabeth Hembree; and great-grandson Jacob Hembree, all of Canton, Ga. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Jane Hembree. Other survivors include four sisters, Pansy Julian of Anderson, Veda Garrison and Dot Martin of Greenville and Esther Holliday of Six Mile; and two brothers, John Falls of Columbia and George Falls of King's Creek, S.C.
