Lucinda Bowman, eleventh child and youngest daughter of Marchel (née Blizzard) and John Bowman, was born probably in 1862 in Darke County, Ohio, where her parents were among the early settlers. After 1860, the Bowman family moved to Champaign County, Illinois, where her father died in 1868.

Lucinda Bowman and George Lady were married on 20 November 1894 in Champaign County. The couple farmed in the county's Newcomb and East Bend Townships until 1912, when George Lady sold "his farming implements and stock."*

Lucinda Lady died on 15 May 1927 at her home near Fisher, Champaign County. She was survived by her husband (who died in 1940).

Notes

Lucinda Lady's birth date, 16 Dec 1856, reported in her obit. is too early. She was not enumerated in the 1860 U.S. Census. The 16 Dec 1860 birth date reported in her death certificate also appears to be too early. The 1870 and 1880 U.S. Censuses, with her mother as head of household, indicate that Lucinda was born in 1862 or 1863.

Lucinda's marriage license return and death certificate report Dayton, Ohio, as her place of birth. This does not appear to be correct. Her family farmed and were enumerated from 1840 through 1860 in Neave Township, Darke County.
