Arthur was born in Coffee Co, GA to John Franklin and Nancy Harper Bowdoin. He died 4 June 1961. He shares a stone with his wife, Mary Edna Gammage Bowdoin, who he married 11 December 1899 in Anderson Co, TX. Their sons, Lacy Seth Bowdoin and William Odell Bowdoin , and daughters, Emma Hazel Bell, Gladys Aline Bell, Una Mae Bowdoin and Edna Muriel Jones, are also buried in Garden of Memories.

Funeral services for Arthur D. Bowdoin, 81, of Elkhart, were held at 10 a.m. today in the Hassell & Foster Chapel here. Rev. J. E. McGaughey officiated and burial was in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Elkhart.

Pallbearers were C. N. Starr, Howard Woody, Joe Jenkins, Henry Mixon, Benton Knott and Joe Bailey Parker.

Mr. Bowdoin died following a long illness at 2:30 a.m. Sunday at his home in Elkhart. He was born in Alabama on September 15, 1879, but had lived most of his life in the Elkhart area.
Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Mary E. Bowdoin of Elkhart; one son, W. O. Bowdoin of Dallas, three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Bell of Dallas, Mrs. Hazel Bell of Elkhart, and Mrs. M. M. Jones of Palestine; and four grandchildren.
