Gordon was born in Coffee Co, AL to John Franklin and Nancy Harper Bowdoin. According to his death certificate, he was born 4 May 1880, but his stone reads 1882. Since his brother, Arthur, was born September 15 1879, and Gordon is not in the household in the 1880 since, it is likely that he was born 4 May 1882. The 1900 Coffee Co, AL census lists his birth data as May 1991. He died 23 April 1937 in Anderson Co, TX and is buried beside his wife, Adella "Della" Mixon Bowdoin, who he married 21 Dec 1899 in Coffee County, Alabama. He and Della were in Anderson Co, TX by 1910.
