OBITUARY

Tyler (TX) Morning Telegraph - Wednesday, 8 Jul 1998

ELKHART -- Graveside services for Fred Ashley, 80, Elkhart, are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Elkhart, with the Rev. Darwin Munsinger officiating under direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. Mr. Ashley died July 7.

He was born Aug 13, 1917 in Anderson County to the late Joel and Julie Camp Ashley. He served in World War II and retired as a truck driver for Permian Oil Corp. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Peevy Ashley, in 1996.

Survivors include daughter, Kathleen Billings, Elkhart; son, Doug Ashley, Elkhart; brothers, Clyde Ashley, Palestine, Roger Ashley, Diboll, and John Ashley, Mesquite; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
