Benjamin was a veteran of World War II. He was a student at Nixon Business College at the time of his death in Anderson County. He was survived by his parents; seven brothers, Arthur Ashley of Lovelady, Joyal Clyde Ashley, Olen Ashley, Wesley Ashley and Martin Luther Ashley, all of Palestine, Fred Ashley of Elkhart and Coy Ashley of Houston; one sister, Ila Mae Ashley Scott of Palestine. His obituary appeared in the Palestine Herald-Press, Friday, 4 March 1949.
