He was survived by his wife, Sherren; son Bennie Ashley of Houston and Bobbie Ashley of Fairfield; daughters, Billie Jean Ashley Padon of Cordele, Bonnie Gail Ashley Coleman and Jacqlyn Davis, both of Lolita, Becky Lynne Ashley Hudson of Edna and Brenda Nell Ashley Benton of Waxahachie; four brothers Fred Douglas Ashley, John Wesley Ashley, Roger Coy Ashley and Joel Clyde Ashley; 20 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. His obituary appeared in the Palestine Herald-Press, Thursday, 2 February 1995.
