Knute Sanderson was the son of Holge (Henry) Sondresen 1796–1855 and Aslaug "Adalaide" Knutsdatter Lofthus 1802–1887.

He emigrated from Tinn, Telemark. Norway in 1843, and was a farmer.

U.S., Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Church Records, confirm that Knute married Augusta Halverson in a wedding ceremony at the Evangelical Lutheran Indian Creek Congregation on 9 May 1856 at Leland Illinois. Their known children were: Adelaide Sanderson 1857–1903; Sarah Sanderson 1858–1894; Henry Sanderson 1860–1939; Margaret Louise Sanderson 1862–1942; Simon Sanderson 1864–1898; Agnetta "Nettie" Cordelia Sanderson
1866–1931; and Carrie Sanderson 1870–1906.

Augusta and the children were saddened in 1899, their dear husband and father had passes away. A burial plot was chosen for him in Baker cemetery. The family and friends gathered on the day he was buried to bid him a fond farewell and to rest in Peace.
