The death of Miss Margaret Sanderson occurred Tuesday morning July 25, 1893 at the age of 60 years and 9 months. She was born in Norway and came to this country with her parents in the year 1843, coming direct to Leland. Her father died in 1855 and her mother in 1887 and one brother, S.H. (Sander), died in 1881. Two sisters and two brothers survive her, Martha (Levina) Mrs. Kittelson, lives at Lee; Ellen (Helen) Mrs. Chris Farley, and her brother Kanute (Knute) Sanderson both living on farms south of Leland and Austin, of the clothing firm of Sanderson & Farley, of this place. Miss Sanderson has made her home with her brother Austin for several years and was with him at the time of her death.
She has been in poor health for the past two years and for the past six months has been a great sufferer. She became converted at an early age and lived a Christian life until her death, which, while it brings sorrow to her many friends, was her only relief from suffering and her friends may find comfort in knowing that she is safe on the other shore.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Lutheran church, of which she was a member, and was attended by a large number of people. The remains were laid at rest with the members of the family who have gone before, in the cemetery south of Leland.
