He was born to Paul and Agda Helgren Sept. 5, 1925 in Travis County, TX.
Clarence proudly served in WWII as PFC in 511th Parachute Infantry and PFC in Company B 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Inducted into the U.S. Army in 1943 and honorably discharged in 1947.
In 1948 he met and married Wilma Ruthven, his wife of 69 years. They had two sons, Kenneth and Rodney.
He is preceded in death by both his parents, son Kenneth, grandson Joshua, brother Oscar Helgren, sisters Pauline Madson, Marjorie Prinz, Mildred McCellan, MayDell Prinz, and Ruby Prinz.
Clarence is survived by his wife, a son, five grandchildren and fourteen Great-great Grandchildren.
His kind and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of the family he loved so dearly. Celebration of Clarence’s Life January 5, 2017, at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Interment at the Elgin City Cemetery.
