MayDell Marie (Helgren) Prinz, age 88, of Elgin passed away Thursday morning, January 12, 2017, surrounded by her family.

MayDell was born in the Type community of Williamson County, TX to Paul and Agda Helgren on May 27, 1928, the youngest of seven children. She was Baptized and Confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the Lund community and graduated from Elgin High School.

MayDell married Edgar Prinz on March 7, 1948, and they were blessed with three children. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the farm but during a drought, with crop failing, she went to work for Weed Instruments and retired after 35 years of service.

MayDell was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Elgin. She loved watching sports, especially the Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys, but her true love was watching her grandchildren play sports, which she rarely missed.

MayDell “Grammy” was a loving, kind and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a great role model to our family. Grammy was a great inspiration, she taught her family how to work hard, enjoy the simple things in life and how to be together as a family. For many, many, summers Grammy loved vacationing with her family at the beach.

She was preceded in death by her parents,; husband, a brother Oscar Helgren, sisters Pauline Madsen, Ruby Prinz, Mildred Mc Clellan, Marjorie Prinz.

MayDell was survived by a son, two daughters, and a brother. She was also survived by 8 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
