Mrs. Silence was a member of the Brownstown Nazarene Church and was a housewife.
Born on February 17, 1921, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Clifton and Minnie Myrtle Hovis Aynes, both of whom preceded her in death.
On September 12, 1938, in Brownstown, she married Marvin Silence and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1992.
Survivors include one daughter, Reva Jackson of Brownstown; two grandchildren: Doug Foster of Brownstown and Gary (Lisa) Foster of North Vernon; six great grandchildren: Jennifer (Ryan) May of McConnelsville, Ohio; Daphne (Brandon) Davis, Zach Foster, Michael Knapp and Kathryn Knapp, all of Brownstown, and April Foster of North Vernon; five great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Alice Topie of California.
Mrs. Silence was also preceded in death by three brothers: Floyd Aynes, Perry Aynes and Clifton Aynes; and one sister: Virginia Stidham.
Funeral services for Gladys M. Silence will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
Memorials may be given to Schneck Medical Center Hospice.
