Leon Dan Lowe, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2017, at his home.

Leon was born July 16, 1929, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Daniel Wesley and Loveda Lowe. He grew up in Lincoln, but went to high school in Roberts where he played basketball all four years.

Leon met the love of his life, Bonnie, in fifth grade, but didn’t begin dating until after high school. Their first date was in July 1948, and they were engaged soon after in September 1948. They were married January 20, 1949, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple in January 1998.

Five children were born to this union, Susan, Carolynn, Debbie, Darryl and Randy. Eventually, their family grew to 20 grandkids and 31 great grandkids.

Leon held multiple jobs in his lifetime from herding turkeys to farming, but was a truck driver for most of his life. He owned Star Distributing and drove truck for 50 years.

Leon was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed camping, gardening, fishing, cutter racing, hunting and much more. What he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids. Leon was head over heels in love with Bonnie for 70 years. His eyes would dance anytime he would look at her or speak about her.

Leon is survived by his wife, Bonnie, daughter, Susan Lowe of Idaho Falls, daughter, Debbie (Chuck) Fourman of Idaho Falls, son, Randy (Bonnie) Lowe of Idaho Falls, siblings, Donna Justensen of Idaho Falls, Lillian Johnson of Idaho Falls, Sally Scheer of Idaho Falls, Lynda Judy of Idaho Falls, Peggy Lowe of Idaho Falls, Dennie (Vicky) Lowe of Idaho Falls, Sherry (John) Bangsten of Florida, Vicki (Garrett) Van Tussenbroek of California, Hope (John) Watson of Utah, 20 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

Leon was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Wesley Lowe, mother, Loveda Butte Lowe, brothers, Robb and Max Lowe, daughter, Carolynn Lowe Barnes and son, Darryl Leon Lowe.
