Hooper – Hooper resident Max Lowe, 82, passed away on April 5, 2016. He was born on June 2, 1933 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Daniel Wesley Lowe and Loveda Butte Lowe. He was one of 18 siblings. At the age of 17 Max joined the United States Navy, he served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, he was stationed on the USS Shangra La, USS Enterprise and the USS Intrepid, just to name a few. During his time in the service he was awarded with many distinguishing medals and was always very proud of his accomplishments. On June 2, 1954, he married Colleen Poole in Menan, Idaho. Following his retirement from the Navy, they moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Max was a Postal Carrier for many years. Later they moved to California where Max spread his wings as an entrepreneur and he owned and managed a few different businesses as well as some rental properties. They moved to Hooper, Colorado in 1993.

Max is survived by his wife, Colleen Lowe of Hooper, his children, Wendy (Barry) Hawkins, Laura (Clyde) Simmons, Brenda (Tony) Mixon and Kenney Dan Lowe, his grandchildren, Ryan (Micki) Hawkins, Emily (Jess) Freel, Julia (David) Hammel, Trevor (Amanda) Hawkins, Nathan (Betsy) Hawkins, Brandon (Jessica) Hawkins, Jake (Lindsey) Simmons, Hannah (Anthony) Lacayo, Jennifer Mixon and Jared (Brandi) Mixon as well as 29 great grandchildren and 3 more on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Leon (Bonnie) Lowe, Donna Justesen, Lillian Johnson, Sally Scheer, Lynda (Richard) Judy, Peggy Lowe, Dennie (Vicky) Lowe, Sherry (Jon) Bengston, Vickie (Garrett) VanTussenbrooke, Hope (John) Watson, sister-in-law Sheryl Lowe as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robb Lowe, his brothers-in-law Dean Justesen, Bob Johnson and Joe Scheer.

A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday April 11, 2016 at the Hooper Baptist Church in Hooper. Interment will follow services in the Homelake Veterans Cemetery in Monte Vista. A reception will follow the interment service at the church in Hooper. Contributions are suggested to the Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake and may be made in care of the funeral home office.
