Darryl Leon Lowe, 60, passed away at his home on June 28, 2016 after courageously battling cancer for over a year.

Darryl was born January 22, 1956 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Leon and Bonnie (Clements) Lowe.

He was raised in the Lincoln area and attended Lincoln Elementary, Bonneville Jr High and graduated from Bonneville High School in May 1974.

Darryl married JoLynn Moedl on May 14, 1976 in Idaho Falls. They lived in the Idaho Falls area after they were married and in 1984 made Ammon, Idaho their home.

They have 2 children, Jason (Janae) Lowe of Belmont, North Carolina and Hollie (Michael) Quaranta of Henderson, Nevada and 6 grandchildren, Maddox, Mitchell, Emersyn, and Erynn Lowe, Connor and Isabelle Quaranta.

Darryl went to work at the U&I Sugar Factory in Lincoln in 1975. He started out as an oiler, did boiler maintenance in between campaigns and was a boiler operator when the factory was shut down in 1979.

For a few years after the sugar factory shut down he had several jobs including running the small engine repair shop at Coast to Coast Hardware in Idaho Falls.

Then in 1984 he went to work at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) where he was employed for over 32 years. He started out as a Utility Operator at the Chemical Processing Plant (CPP) Coal Fired Steam Generating facility operating the boilers and other utility systems. He later became a Balance of Plant (BOP) Shift Supervisor for Utility Operations at Idaho Nuclear Technology and Engineering Center (INTEC), formerly CPP. Darryl had a vast knowledge of the utilities and buildings at INTEC and took great pride in his work.

Darryl loved his kids and spent as much time with them as he could. He was very involved in their activities when they were young. He coached their soccer, t-ball, soft ball, little league & baseball teams for years and spent a lot of time as a "Dance Dad" at dance performances. He loved coaching and all the kids involved. He loved his grandkids and was very proud of them. He loved to brag about them and always looked forward to going to visit them.

After his coaching days, he took up golf and quickly became addicted. He also enjoyed, camping, canoeing, road trips and driving through Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks to watch the animals.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is survived by his wife, JoLynn; son Jason (Janae) Lowe; daughter Hollie (Michael) Quaranta; six grandchildren; his parents, Bonnie and Leon Lowe; two sisters, Susan Lowe and Debbie (Chuck) Fourman and one brother, Randy (Bonnie) Lowe.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Barnes; grandparents, Clifford Clements, Maurine Wilkie, Loveda Lowe and Daniel Lowe.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Rachelle and Brenda at One Source Hospice for their kind and loving care of Darryl. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2676 Vista Avenue, Boise, ID 83705 or Camp Magical Moments in Swan Valley, Idaho, www.campmagicalmoments.org.
