In 1846, Arabella's mother, Lucy Eagar, and several of her children, including her daughter, Arabella, traveled from New York to what later became San Francisco. They traveled aboard the ship, Brooklyn, with a party of Mormons under the direction of Sam Brannan.
Arabella married Joel B. Knapp about 1850 in California when she was 17 years old.
She and Joel may have had as many as thirteen children together.
After marrying, Arabella and Joel moved quite often, living in San Francisco, Hawaii, Sacramento, and Nevada.
After her husband died, Arabella lived for a short time in Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; and, then, New York City.
In 1900, she and her daughter, Valeria, took a pleasure trip to England, where Arabella died.
