Born in Cabell County VA (now WV) and migrated with the entire extended Heath family as a young boy into early Platte Co. MO 1839. Son of Sanders W. McComas and Laura Mary (Heath) McComas who married Jan 28, 1834 in Cabell Co VA. Benjamin McComas married 21 Jan 1869 Mary Jane Pope, a daughter of George W. Pope b. 15 Oct 1801 Rowan Co NC and his wife Jane Cooper b. 22 Feb 1807 Franklin Co VA who married 14 Sept 1827 in Hendricks Co. IN. Benjamin McComas, his wife Mary Jane (Pope) McComas and all but one child died of consumption. The children were all taken in by Benjamin's brother Israel McComas, but only one survived (Sanders W. McComas) who moved to Canadian Co. OK.

George P. McComas born 8 Aug 1871 d. 14 Nov 1890 Buried Circleville Cemetery.

Benjamin 'Bennie' J. McComas born 25 Mar 1873 d. 14 Mar 1887. Buried Circleville Cemetery.

From Circleville - With sadness we, this week, chronicle the
death of B. J. McComas Esq., one of our most respected citizens. His
remains were followed to the grave by a procession of members of the
Masonic Lodge, of which he was an honored member. The Holton Express,
January 29, 1875.
