On the Sims index, in 1838 in Cabell Co WV, Sanders McComas owned 25 acres in Fall Creek before moving into Missouri.
Sanders W. McComas remarried in 1847 Nancy C. Boydston, the daughter of Thomas Boydston and Elizabeth Gregg from TN. Nancy C. Boydston was born 15 Oct 1813 in Cocke Co. TN. She herself was a widow at the time they married. She had first married 28 Aug 1834 in Clay Co MO Jessie McPike and had one child with him: William H. McPike. Sanders W. McComas was a very pro-Union man and had 'trouble' in Platte Co Missouri which caused he and 2nd wife Nancy C. (Boydston) (McPike) McComas to move in 1856, along with her brother Nathaniel Christian Boydston--to very early Jefferson Township, Jackson Co. MO. Nancy's son William H. McPike was of the southern persuasion and stayed behind in Platte Co and lived with his grandparents Thomas and Elizabeth Boydston. He served two terms for the Confederacy. Sanders W. McComas, it is believed moved to Kansas because of the 'free soil' vote to be taken up by Kansas on whether or not it would be a slave state. Nancy's brother Nathaniel C Boydston donated the land for the early Circleville Cemetery, Jackson Co KS where much of the family was buried. Sanders and Nancy McComas led a very full life in Jackson Co KS and Nancy became stepmother to the children from Laura Mary Heath. She and Sanders McComas went on to have many children of their own.

We have only one clue concerning Sanders W. McComas's first wife, Laura Mary Heath. Her grave was never found. Sanders W. McComas himself in later years, answered the question on the whereabouts of Laura Mary Heath: In a piece in the Holton Recorder, Thurs March 14, 1935 by Arthur G. Hurst, entitled "Early Cemetery is South of Circleville" we learn: "The first death in the community (of Circleville) was a Mrs. Brown, who lived on the place now occupied by Jim Cole. Sanders McComas picked out the cemetery and his brother-in-law Nat Boydston, gave the land. Mr. McComas' first wife's (that would be Laura Mary Heath) grave washed away in Missouri, hence I suppose he chose the hill overlooking what is now Circleville Jackson Co KS, and how appropriate it is."
From newspaper:
S. W. McComas, one of the old pioneer settlers of Jackson
county, died at his residence, near Circleville, Monday the 26th
inst., of consumption of the stomach, and was buried at Circleville,
by the Masonic Fraternity, on the 27th ... The Holton Recorder and
