Services for Earl Thompson, 78, will be held Tuesday, March 13 2007, at 10 a.m. in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel in Oakdale, with the Revs. Kenneth Crumbley and Vernon Powell officiating. Committal services will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery, under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale. Mr. Thompson passed away at his home in Oakdale surrounded by his family, Sunday, March 11, 2007. He was a retired business owner and lifelong resident of Allen Parish. He was a loving husband, dad, paw paw and paw paw Earl as well as friend to many. He coached little league baseball, ranched cattle, loved to rabbit hunt, fish and sing in the church choir as a member at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Oakdale. Preceding him in death were his parents, Matt and Ethel Thompson and one brother, Bobby Thompson. His passion was his family with a wife of 57 years, Lou Edna Myers Thompson; four sons, Lynn David Thompson and wife Linda of Oakdale; Gregory Wayne Thompson and wife Karen of College Station, Texas; Tommy Johnson and wife Debra of Oakdale and Sean David "Toby" Thompson (deceased). Mr. Thompson was survived by three brothers, Herman Thompson of Pitkin; Cecil Thompson of McNary and Willie Thompson of Glenmora; five sisters, Lois Wiley of Beaumont, Texas; Velma Hillman of Leesville; Mavis Bullock of Dallas, Texas; Dovie Orr of Sherman, Texas and Edna Mae Bass of Kinder; six grandchildren, Melanie Welch of Elizabeth; Mandi Luedecke of College Station, Texas; Dustin Thompson of Kinder; Lori Zalobny of College Station, Texas; Angela Johnson and Katy Johnson of Oakdale and ten great grandchildren. Mr. Thompson was a proud foster parent of more than 200 boys over a forty-five year span. Pallbearers honored to serve will be Kevin Taylor, Jason Thompson, Kevin Thompson, Mark Thompson, Eric Thompson, Mitch Luedecke, Byron Welch and Joe Laughlin. Honorary pallbearers honored to serve will be the great-grandchildren: Sydney, Natalie and Jacob Welch; Tucker, Ty and Maddi Luedecke; Chase and Ethan Zalobny and Haley and Logan Thompson. Friends may call today from 8 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel.
