Funeral services for Herman Thompson will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, June 12, 2017 at White Oaks Memorial Chapel, Oakdale with Reverends Braden Martin and Dave Digmon officiating.
Committal service will follow in the Occupy #1 Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Herman, 85, of Pitkin, entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 10, 2017 in Pitkin. He was born October 11, 1931 in the Plainview Community to the union of Matt Thompson and Ethel (Droddy) Thompson.
He was a retired carpenter and after retiring he turned his passion to gardening beautiful fields of bountiful vegetables.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jimmie Thompson, parents, one son, Darrell Thompson; one grandson, Travis Thompson; three brothers, Earl Thompson, Cecil Thompson, and Bobby Thompson; and one sister, Velma Hillman.
Those left to cherish his memory are: his two sons, Johnny Thompson of Sulphur and Matt Keith Thompson and wife, Betty of Lake Charles; one daughter, JoAnn Young of Pitkin; four sisters, Lois Wiley of Beaumont, TX, Dovie Orr of Sherman, TX, Mavis Bullock and husband, John of Garland, TX, and Edna Bass and husband, Alton of Kinder; one brother, Willie Thompson of Soapstone Community; three granddaughters, three grandsons, and three great grandchildren, along with a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held today, June 11, 2017 at the White Oaks Memorial Chapel from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m.
