Norma R. Shelquist age 55, passed away at the St. Lukes Hospital in Fargo on Thursday, May 8. Mrs. Shelquist was born in Clearbrook, Minnesota on October 1, 1924 to parents Severin and Bessie Westrum. She graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1942, worked for Dr. Larso in Bagley for a time. Entered into the Army WAC's in 1944 and served until July of 1946. She worked for a time in Alsaca after getting out of the service. Her marriage to William (Billy) Shelquist took place in Clearbrook on February 4, 1951. The Shequists lived in St. Louis doe 26 years where Norma worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital as a medical technician. Three years ago the Shelquist's retired and moved back to Clearbrook. Norma was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, member of the American Legion.
Survivors include her husband William of Clearbrook; her parents, Severin and Bessie of Leonard; one sister, Arvilla Westrum of Bagley; three brothers, Orvin of Clearbrook, Lawrence and Donovan of Leonard.
Funeral services wer eheld on Monday, May 12th at 1 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Clearbrook. The Rev. Paul Knutson officiated and burial was in the Augustana Lutheran Cemetery of Clearbrook. The American Legion Post # 256 of Clearbrook had charge of military honors and the Cease Funeral Home of Bagley was in charge of arrangements.
