Donavon Delano Westrum, 78, of Clearbrook, Minnesota, died on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Cornerstone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bagley, Minnesota.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, Minnesota with Reverend Bob Kirchman officiating. Visitation will be on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 4-7:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Clearbrook, MN. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Clearbrook, Minnesota. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Bagley assisted with the arrangements.
Donavon was born April 1, 1933 in Clearbrook, Minnesota, the son of Severin and Bessie (Lee) Westrum. He attended Happy Hollow Country School and graduated from Clearbrook High School in 1952. Donavon was a devoted athlete and played football, basketball and baseball during his high school years.
Donavon married Marlene (Ophus) in June of 1952. Donavon was trained as a brick layer and a member of the Brick Layers Union for 42 years. He worked in various places throughout the state. On his week-ends, Donavon would build fireplaces and basements for many people. Donavon retired in 1995.
Donavon was a big sports fan supporting the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins. He loved to fish whether it was ice fishing, spearing or angling and he also loved to deer hunt.
He is survived by his daughters: Renetta (Rick) Rhen of Clearbrook, MN Deb (Charlie) Collins of Leonard, MN; Darla (David) John of Lino Lakes, MN Son: Corey (Sue) Westrum of Leonard, MN 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren Best Friend Marlin Langseth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters; Arvilla Westrum and Norma Shelquist; 2 brothers; Orvin Westrum and Lawrence Westrum and an infant son, Randy.
