Gary R. Shively, age 71, of Canton, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2009. He was born on February 3, 1938, in Canton, to the late Frederick and Olive Shively. Gary was a 1956 graduate of Lincoln High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. Gary was employed with the United States Postal Service for 30 years. He was a sports enthusiast; he enjoyed bowling and playing baseball and was a fan of basketball and football. Gary enjoyed old movies and big band music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ramona Shively. Gary is survived by two brothers, Fred Shively of Canton and Eric (Louise) Shively of Worthington; special family friend, Shirley Benedict of Canton; and beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 1pm in Moultrie Cemetery. The Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice (1742 Georgetown Rd., Suite J, Hudson, OH 44236).
