She was aged 79 when she died and she was the wife of retired city treasurer. Late of 76 Lansdowne Park, Limerick. She died at St. John's Hospital, Limerick. Cause of death was senility with diabetes.
She was the daughter of Edward Daly and Catherine O'Meara. She was born in Henry Street, Limerick. Her registered birth name was Mary Ellen Daly, though she was known as Aileen throughout her life. She was the eldest of 9 children. Her father was a shop keeper and was an active Fenian. Her uncle John Daly was a famous Fenian and became Mayor of Limerick. Her sister Kathleen married Tom Clarke, signatory to the Proclamation of Independence and executed for his part in the 1916 rising. Her only brother, Ned, was also executed for taking part in the 1916 Rising.
She married Edward O'Toole on the 1st March 1905, he was an accountant at the time and lived in Thomondgate.
The family emigrated to New York in 1923 and lived there for quite a few years before returning to Limerick.
Her funeral was held on 13th October 1955.
