Dennie Monroe Milner, 78, of Glen Ellen, passed away , at his home of 40 years, with his loving family at his side. He was born May 30, 1934, in Texas and was raised there; attended school, worked on the family farm, and had various jobs. The family moved to Utah in the early '50s where Dennie worked for a cement company and enlisted in the Army Reserves (1953-1955). He then returned to Texas and enlisted in the U.S. Navy (1955-1959). During that time, a mutual friend, on the ship with Dennie, introduced him to Marty (Martha) who lived in Redwood City … they were married for 55 years. After discharge from the Navy, Dennie was employed by Hewlett-Packard and for 38 years worked in the technology field (Hewlett-Packard and Agilent). He retired from Agilent as a mechanical engineer in 1997. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; his home and family, caring for his garden and working in the yard, fishing, hunting, woodworking and tinkering. He was an active member of the Glen Ellen Community Church and for many years served as a trustee. Dennie is survived by wife, Marty; daughter, Sandi (Paul) Hoffman; and son, John (Holly) Milner; grandchildren, Bryan and Carly Hoffman, Kyle Milner and Shane Avilla; sister, Helon Holub, of Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two daughters, Diana Milner and Sheri (Milner) Avilla; four brothers; and two sisters. A private family service will be held, and remembrances may be sent to Glen Ellen Community Church, P.O. Box 41, Glen Ellen, CA 95442; Sonoma County Kidney Crisis Foundation, P.O. Box 9002, Santa Rosa, CA 95405; or charity of choice.
