Plainview News: Miss Myrtie Carpenter, 77, a resident for 46 years, died as she was entering the Church of Christ for 11AM services on Sunday morning, April 15, 1956. She had been a patient at the Rest Haven Rest Home for 7 ½ years. Born Feb 3, 1879 at Stockholm, WI, the daughter of Charles and Martha Carpenter, she graduated from Pepin High School, Pepin, WI. She and her twin sister, Marion graduated from the Winona General Hospital School of Nursing in 1913 and nursed in the Plainview area many years. Marion died April 20, 1939.
Two sisters, Mrs. Millie Axtell of Pepin, WI, and Mrs. Martha Greive of Plainview survive. Besides her parents and twin, 5 sisters and 5 brothers preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) April 19 at the church of Christ, Mr. Harvey Smith will officiate with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery. Six nephews will act as pallbearers. They are Lyndon Carpenter, Stockholm, WI, Gerald Greive, Wabasha; Milton Axtell, Pepin, WI; Harold Riley, Minneapolis; Donald Carpenter and George Heaser.
