Bill J. Braswell, 86 of Pana, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2017 while under Hospice care at Heritage Health in Pana. He was born July 26, 1931 in Paducah, KY son of Reverend Ruel and Evelee (Morris) Braswell. He married Agnes A. Buckley in 1952 and she survives him.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by his sons Robert E. (Barbara) Buckley of Mattoon, IL, Guy (Karen) Braswell of San Antonio, TX and Don (Cindy) Braswell of Charleston, IL; grandchildren Kelly Buckley Scott, Cory Buckley, Jeanette Braswell Addkison, Ann Braswell Tiller, Michael W. Braswell, Heather Braswell Reed and Michael J. Braswell; 14 great grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Jenkins of Decatur, IL, Sharon Chrisman of Paris, IL and Robin Porter of Dana, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Peggy Elledge.

Bill moved to Pana in 1950 where he owned and operated a Barber Shop for many years. Since moving to Pana, he was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Pana and had served as Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, Song Leader, Building Committee for the current Church building, as well as many other supportive roles over the years. He was a member of the Pana Sports Boosters, Pana Quarterback Club and former 38 year member of the Pana Chain Gang. He had proudly served his Country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea. He was a member of AMVETS, Pana VFW Post #4431 and the Pana American Legion Post #168.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the First Church of the Nazarene of Pana with Pastor Todd Holman officiating. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery in Pana with full military honors conducted by the Pana Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 8, 2017 from 2:00 PM until the time of services at the church.
