Avarilla Caldwell Averett of Vinings, Georgia passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday July 26, 2014. She was born January 21, 1935 in Gay, Georgia to the late Marcus Lamar and Martha Caldwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Elizabeth Rhodes and Edith Buchanan. She is survived by her husband Charles Cole Averett, daughters Tricia (h. Lynn) Williams and Barbara (h. Conley) Ingram, two grandsons Matthew (w. Holly) Williams and Michael Williams, and two granddaughters Martha-Conley Ingram and Rebekah-Ann Ingram, as well as siblings Martha Power, Claude Caldwell, and Barbara Perrow. She was a graduate of Agnes Scott College, class of 1956, and was active during her life in many community organizations, particularly volunteering with the Girl Scouts of America and the United States Election Assistance Commission. She was a life member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Gay, Georgia. She was devoted to her friends and family, enjoyed traveling, her work at Barnes and Noble Cumberland, the Vinings Library, and horticulture. Service of celebration of life was held at Southcare Cremation & Funeral Society Chapel in Marietta, Georgia on Tuesday, July 29 at 11:30am.
