Shreveport, LA - Services for Joseph P. "Joe" Lewis, 90, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2000 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Richard J. Lombard, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Funeral home visitation will be Sunday, June 11, 2000 from 5 p.m. with a Vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Lewis passed from this world on Friday, June 9, 2000 in Shreveport, LA. He was born July 24, 1909 in Dubach, LA and was a resident of Shreveport, LA. Mr. Lewis had a long career in the food industry. He was a devout and faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a lifetime member of B.P.O.E., the Progressive Men's Club and the Moose Club.
He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Pate Lewis; children, Esther McDuff of Lafayette, LA, Stanley Lewis and wife, Virginia of Joplin, MO and Joseph Brady (Jay) Lewis of Montgomery, AL; sister, Lillie Anzalone of Shreveport; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Lewis, Jay Lewis, Charles McDuff, Joe McDuff, Bill McDuff, Jeffrey Lewis and Scott Valentine.
Honorary pallbearers will be all Elk Lodge Members of Shreveport, Tony Greco, Fred Wells, Roy Hale, George Hall, and all the members of the Progressive Men's Club.
The family wishes to thank the Staff of Willis Knighton Medical Center Pierremont for the excellent care they provided Mr. Lewis.
