Pictures, shared by Roberts niece, Theresa Johnston, tell a lot about Bobby's young life. One shows Bob, and his brother, Kenneth, on their way to school in Kansas in 1935, riding a donkey, Kenneth driving and Bobby holding onto the lunch pails. Another is in 1936ish Bobby on a pony, dressed up like a Cowboy. Another picture is showing, that because money was tight when they first moved from Kansas to Oregon, they lived in berry fields in a tent for a portion of that first year. They picked berries to save enough money to rent a house, and eventually his father found work. They settled in Boing Oregan. In the Spring of 1938 Bobby went on a trip with his family to Mt Hood, Oregon.

In 1947 Robert Steenson graduated from Sandy Union High School in Sandy, Oregon. He was class President his freshman year, played basketball and football all 4 years, and was football Captain his senior year.

In my correspondence with Theresa Johnston I learned that he was very close to all his siblings, nieces, and nephews and was a huge tease.

The very handsome Robert Eugene (Bob) Steenson married the beautiful Mary Carolyn Barlow in a wedding ceremony on Oct 9, 1947, in Stevenson, Skamania, Washington, in the presents of Oawald Spor and Pearl M. Spor. Their marriage was solemnized by J.H. Avery, Minister of the Gospel. They divorced and remarried on 5 Jul 1949 in Stevenson, Skamania, Washington. Witnessed by Maggie Steenson and Anna D. Barlow, Recorded 15 Jul 1949.

In 1993 Bob and Carolyn were living at 16078 SE River Forest Pl Milwaukee, Oregon.

Also Theresa related that, "They had two sons together who both followed their father's love of sports. He retired from the phone company. Bob, passed away after a year long battle with lung cancer, ironic since he was the only one of his siblings who had never smoked. Uncle Bob's ashes are in the Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Gresham Oregon. "

Apr. 14, 1993 was a very sad day for Carolyn, family and friends. Their beloved Bob Steenson passed away. He was cremated, his ashes lovingly placed in a beautiful urn. (research and bio by Audrey DeCamp Hoffman with the assistance of Theresa Johnston)
