Charles E. Funk, Sr., 87, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016, peacefully at his home, with his family by his side. He was born on August 16, 1928, in Terre Haute, to James Alonzo and K. Marie (Engles) Funk.

Charles is survived by his children: Jodi Funk and Heather, Charless Montgomery and Bud, Robi Dunfee and Muscles, Tedi Funk and Molly, Charles Funk, Jr. and Lea Ann; step-children, Cyndi Daugherty, Sam Doty, Butch Leek and Thelma, Carrie Compton and Bob, Bob Leek, and Don Leek and Janice; grandchildren: Tad and Dustin Montgomery, Brimika and Landon Dunfee, Carlea, Camryn, and Charles Funk III; 21 step-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Richard Funk, Clarence Funk, and Margaret Cude; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Pat Funk and Barbara Funk; a son, Tobi Funk; 14 brothers and sisters, and his beloved cockatiel, Rudi.

Charley was a 1948 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School. He proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and the Korean War. He was an electronics technician for Wassel Inn, Snodgrass Sales, and Wiemuth and Son. Charley was an active member of The King's Harvest Church. He was a member of VFW 972, American Legion Post 346, and the Moose Lodge.

Charley loved golf more than life itself. He even gave up bowling after an injury interfered with his golf game. He had a great sense of humor, which he passed on to his children. His family will fondly remember his dry wit and frequent eye rolling.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 13 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dennis Leek officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park with military honors performed by VFW Post 972. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
