LONG TIME RESIDENT OF BANDERA DIED
CHRISTMAS EVE

William H. Coffey, age 87, died in Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital in Kerrville on Wednesday, December 24, 1975, following a brief illness. Mr. Coffey had been a resident of Purple Hills Nursing Home for several years.

He was born in Coryell County, Texas on July 6, 1888, the son of pioneer Texans, Smith Coffey and Nancy Kerby Coffey. He had lived nearly all his life in Bandera County in the Tarpley community. He was a retired rancher and was highly esteemed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were conducted for him Saturday, December 27, 1975, at 2 p. m. from Plummer Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roy Spannagel, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Bandera, officiating and he was laid to rest in the Tarpley Cemetery.

Survivors include four nephews, Bill Coffey of Hondo, Clay Wright and William Clyde Wright of Bandera, and Raymond Wright of Houston; one niece, Mrs. W. I. (Lenna) Walker of Bandera, and several other nieces and nephews. Casket carriers were Bill Short, Arthur Erfurt, Felix Billings, Everett Koontz, Buster Schmidt, John James and Elzie Dean.

Honorary pallbearers named were Bill Allen of San Antonio, Pres Word of Medina, Les Short of Vanderpool, John Tyra of Utopia, Taylor Wootton and Rev. Ira Garrison of Bandera. Plummer Funeral Chapel had charge of arrangements.
