Nancy Anastasia Kerby was the third daughter of Alney B. Kerby and Mary Pauline (Polly) Carson.

Nancy married Michael Smith Coffey on August 6, 1872 in Gainesville, Coryell County, Texas.

She became the mother of five daughters and five sons. The children were named: Laura Lee Coffey-Shelton, Mary Jane "Molly" Coffey, Boonie Coffey-Bridges, Roxanne "Roxie" Coffey, Cicero Coffey (died in infancy), Dora Coffey-Wright, Sul Ross Coffey, William Harvey Coffey, Samuel Carson Coffey, and John Clifton Coffey.

Nancy died from complications of influenza when she developed bronchial pneumonia.
