William was the first child of Henry and Ruth Wilcox Trent. He lived near to
his father much of his life. He served in the Civil war along with uncles and
cousins from central Illinois. He married Sarah Brewer and they had seven
children by her...the sixth child was Perry and lived only three years, dying
in 1860, the same year the seventh child, James Coleman Trent was born. When
Sarah died in 1862, William later married widow Elizabeth Carpenter Reed, who
had one son Milton Reed. They two then had a second family of nine more
children.
His gravesite in Hardin Mo was destroyed by 1993 Missouri River flood, which lost nearly 800 graves.
