DEATH OF MRS. C. F. SWEET
She Had Been a Resident of Jasper County
Fourty-Four Years
The funeral of Mrs. C. F. Sweet, who died Saturday morning and who had been a resident of this county for 44 years, was held at Jasper yesterday at the residence of Mrs. H. E. Ballard, daughter of the deceased, where Mrs. Sweet had made her home in recent years.
She had lived 12 miles northeast of Carthage ever since coming to Jasper County, until she went to make her home with her daughters in Jasper.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Alma Allison and Mrs. H. E. Ballard, both residents of Jasper.
Her husband died in 1901.
The deceased was born in Long Hope, Gloucestershire, England in 1833. Her maiden name was ESTHER A CONSTANCE.
She was married to Charles F. Sweet, July 9, 1857 in Troy, New York, and came to this county in early womanhood. On coming to Jasper County, she joined what is now the Baptist church as Jasper, a church which had been originally organized at the Blood schoolhouse, north of Carthage and afterwards moved to Jasper. The Dewey school house now stands where the old Blood school house stood when this church was organized.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Mr. Palmer, of Lockwood, who preached Mr. Sweet's funeral 12 years ago.
The interment was made at the Jasper cemetery.
