William and his wife Mary came to American after the death of their oldest son Samuel in Westbury on Severn, Mitcheldean, Gloucestershire, England. They arrived 19 May 1856, and joined their seven remaining children. Aboard the ship Webster was William, Mary, grandchildren Emma and Esther (daughter Hannah and son-in-law Thomas W Hyde), John Horlick , William (son Samuel & daughter-in-law Benedicta Horlick), and Thomas. Their destination was Wisconsin.
