OBITUARY: DEATH OF MR. SWEET

Passed away Sunday Morning September 2.
Mr. C.F. Sweet, who had been in a critical condition for the past week at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. E. Ballard in this city, died last Monday morning at ten minutes past six o'clock. He was 72 years, 4 months and a few days of age and leaves a wife and two daughters - Mrs. Ballard and Miss Alma Sweet - and many friends to mourn his loss.

The funeral was held on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. Palmer of the Baptist church. A large concourse of friends followed the remains to their last resting place in the city cemetery.

Mr. Sweet was born in Granville, New York in 1829. He removed to Jasper county in 1869 and settled on the farm five miles southeast of the city on which he has lived ever since. He was a man of many good qualities and was held in high esteem by his neighbors and acquaintances and in his demise the community has lost one of its best citizens. The bereaved family has the sympathy of the community in their sorrow.
