Obituary

Mrs. Chas. J. Larson, a former resident of near Stratford died at the home of a daughter near Alcester, South Dakota, January 22, 1919. She was well known in this community, where the family had lived for over thirty years prior to their removal to South Dakota, to be near their children. The following from a newspaper at Alcester was sent us by one of the children last week:

Mrs. Chas. J. Larson died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Westling, in Alcester, Wednesday, January 22, 1919, at the age of 65 years, 6 months, and 22 days.

Charlotta Tidlund was born in Östergötland, Sweden, June 29, 1853. She was united in marriage to Chas. J. Larson April 18, 1878, and this union was blessed with nine children, two of whom have preceded her in death.

In the summer of 1882, they immigrated to America, and located in Stratford, Iowa, where they made their home until four years ago when they moved here so she could be with her children. Mrs. Larson has been an invalid for thirty years and has been cared for by her children during this time.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her bereaved husband, four sons and three daughters; C.A. Larson and Oscar Larson of Alcester, Emil and Walter Larson, who are in France, Mrs. Chas. Westling and Mrs. Bertel Strom of Alcester, and Mrs. Willie Carlson of Fort Dodge, Iowa. A sister, Mrs. Gust Nelson of Alcester, a brother in Chicago, and a brother and a sister in Sweden, also fifteen grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Nathanael Lutheran church, preceded by a brief service at the Chas. Westling home, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Emil Johnson and the remains were laid to rest in the nearby cemetery.
